Children are the ones for whom we live and do whatever is necessary to be healthy, cheerful and happy. Sleep is important for all of us, but for children it is vital. Therefore, at Poohy we have created unique collections of children's duvets and pillows, filled with the most luxurious, extremely clean down and small white feathers. Clothed in 100% cotton fabrics, the children's bedding products are hypoallergenic, absolutely safe and incredibly comfortable.
What should a child's pillow be like?
Before answering this question, we must carefully discuss the topic of children and pillows. Paediatricians agree that newborns do not need such a sleep accessory, and if, nevertheless, parents decide to add it to the cot, it should have minimal height.
Pillows come into play only after children are at least one and a half years old. For this reason, most children's pillows on the market are designed for children at least 18 months old. Our down pillows for children also meet this requirement. They are adapted to the needs of small children and their physiology.
Since in children aged one to one and a half years the spine is not stable enough, any pressure on the cervical vertebrae must be ruled out. Because of this, the Junior Classic children's pillows are filled with a smaller percentage of down (only 30%) and more small fine feathers. The feathers provide a flatter and more stable surface, while down simply gives the necessary softness.
In the Silver Junior, down dominates the filling - 60% - which makes this pillow more suitable for older children or for additional support when the child needs to be in a more upright position, for example when eating, playing, or when they have a cold, when breathing can be difficult.
Is a down duvet good for your child?
Before starting this topic, it is necessary first to discuss what children need during sleep. First of all, our little friends have enormous energy, which they often spend even when they sleep. They change their body position more often than adults, which is why the duvet can easily end up on the floor because it impedes free movement.
In this case, a light and downy duvet will be the best solution, as it will give the necessary freedom of movement. Our children's duvets are filled with a large percentage of French duck down, which makes them soft and airy. They lightly envelop the child's body, adapting to its shapes when they change position.
Children definitely need air and effective thermoregulation during sleep. They inherently have a slightly higher body temperature and are very prone to overheating while they sleep. There is hardly a child who does not wake up slightly sweaty and with rosy cheeks. This is why it is extremely important that duvets provide excellent ventilation and draw moisture to the outside.
Unlike synthetic fillings, down and feathers are a very good insulator - in fact, the best. Down promotes good air circulation and at the same time provides a good temperature balance. Thus, the Poohy down duvet creates the best conditions for healthy and restful sleep for children.
By using extremely clean and sterilised filling in our children's products, we ensure that nothing threatens the health and comfort of children. Both the duvets and the pillows are wrapped in a skin-friendly fabric made of 100% cotton percale - an anti-mite fabric certified by the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Class 1 for the absence of harmful substances.
