Our luxurious collection of winter duvets with goose and duck down is the best way to take care of yourself on cold winter nights. Goose and duck down are recognised as the best possible winter duvet filling, due to their ability to provide an excellent combination of warmth, lightness and durability. We are sure that in this section you will find the duvet you have always dreamed of.
What distinguishes down winter duvets from all the others?
What makes the products in this section so special is precisely the type of filling. The natural down of Polish geese and French ducks, raised under special conditions, cannot in any way be compared with cheap synthetic materials. Down will always be in first place in the rankings in terms of thermal properties, lightness and comfort. If we have to consider some specific properties of down, then we should point out:
Exquisite insulation with natural volume
Down is the fluffy plumage found beneath the outer feathers of cold-loving birds - ducks and geese. Due to its cluster-like structure, it traps air more effectively, creating air pockets that trap heat while allowing timely evaporation of moisture. Thus, the warmth does not cause sweating.
The special structure of down makes winter duvets an extremely effective insulator, providing pleasant warmth, but without weighing too much. If we have to compare the two types of down used in our winter models, then goose down has larger and more elastic clusters than duck down, offering a better heat-to-weight ratio.
However, duck duvets also do a very good job of providing the necessary warmth without excessive weight. This is their main advantage over synthetic alternatives, which usually require more filling to achieve the same level of warmth.
Light warmth
Another key characteristic of down duvet cases is their remarkable lightness, including the winter models. Down is naturally light, lighter even than synthetic wadding, not to mention wool and cotton. The warmth that down fillings give, without having weight, creates comfort during sleep, without restricting the movements of the person sleeping.
Many people find the lightness of down a sign of luxury, as they enjoy warmth without the sensation of weight, enhancing the overall sleep experience. The lower weight is also important for maintaining the product. It is much easier and more convenient to shake out, air and gather a light winter duvet than a heavy and bulky one.
Ventilation and temperature regulation
Unlike many synthetic fillings, down is a naturally breathable material. It allows air circulation, reducing the likelihood of overheating and helping to maintain a favourable body temperature throughout the night. Down can quickly absorb and release moisture from the body, helping to maintain a pleasant and healthy environment.
The excellent ventilation offered by a winter duvet is particularly useful for people who suffer from night-time sweating in any season or have fluctuations in body temperature. Poohy brand goose and duck down duvets adapt to different climatic conditions and are comfortable for use all year round, including in heated bedrooms.
Strength and durability
What puts the brakes on many buyers is the higher price of down winter duvets compared with synthetic ones. However, the higher price should not put you off, because behind it lies a longer period of use, even with continuous use and frequent washing. When you invest in a quality product, you can be sure that it will serve you for a long time, providing you with the comfort you dreamed of.
High-quality warm goose and duck down duvets can last significantly longer than other types of product sold on the mass market. The down clusters are airy yet elastic and, with proper duvet care, can retain their volume and insulating abilities for a decade or even longer.
Are our winter duvets suitable for people with allergies and small children?
Down is still associated with allergic reactions, although modern processing technologies have made it possible to eliminate this problem. We cannot comment on the production practices of other companies, but we will tell you about our own. With this, we hope to dispel all doubts and concerns about the safety of the warm down duvet.
The raw materials we use are selected very carefully - we work only with proven farms in Poland, France and Hungary, which guarantee the quality of their products and their ethical export through the relevant certificates. The down incorporated into our winter duvets has undergone multi-stage cleaning. It undergoes 8 wash cycles, after which it is sterilised at high temperature.
The meticulous cleaning ensures the complete absence of organic residues and dust, that is, the components that could cause an allergic reaction. The down itself is not an allergen. To further reduce the risk of irritation, our fillings are clothed in hypoallergenic covers, additionally treated against mites.
After everything said so far, we can safely say that our winter down duvets are suitable both for people with sensitivity to down and for small children. The duvet you bought from our online store hides no dangers, except the danger of becoming addicted to the incredible comfort it will offer you during the cold winter months.
Certified according to the Oeko-Tex Standard 100, Class 1 for the absence of harmful substances
The duvets from all our series are clothed in special covers made of 100% cotton percale, woven with a fine jacquard thread so that the fine down does not escape outwards. The softness of the cotton should not deceive you, because the percale is extremely dense and strong.
Both the fillings and the covers of our duvets are certified according to the Oeko-Tex Standard, Class 1 for the absence of harmful substances. The Oeko-Tex Standard 100 Class 1 certificate ensures that the fabrics do not contain harmful substances and are safe to use, especially for babies and toddlers up to three years old.
Class 1 is the strictest category in the Oeko-Tex system, requiring rigorous checks of the fabrics for harmful chemicals such as pesticides, heavy metals and formaldehyde. Products with this certificate have been proven safe for sensitive skin, including baby clothes, bedding and other items that come into close contact with the child's skin.
In addition to being safe, our winter duvets are convenient to maintain at home. They can be washed and dried in the washing machine, following the instructions for temperature and spin speed indicated on the label. We offer all standard sizes, as well as the possibility of making non-standard sizes at the customer's request.
